Our Top 5 Takeaways:
Major Advancements in Wi-Fi
The major advancement in 802.11ax / Wi-Fi 6 is that Wi-Fi is going to get a lot more efficient. Up until now, all the new technology was focused around speed alone. With 802.11ax / Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi is becoming much more efficient with the ability to split channels into as many as nine “baby” channels. With Wi-Fi 6, we will get true multi-user capability on uplink and downlink. Wi-Fi 6’s technology is all about saving airtime consumption.
WPA3 is Coming Soon
WPA3 is coming as a security enhancement for enterprise and consumer networks. All Wi-Fi Alliance certified Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax access points will be required to support it. Click here to learn more about WPA3.
Wi-Fi 6 is The Biggest Change For Wi-Fi in a Decade
The technology behind Wi-Fi 6 will be the prevalent enterprise wireless technology for the next decade. Clients will begin to start coming out over the next year, and chipset vendors expect to ship tens of millions of client devices in the next three to five years. For customers who are due for a Wi-Fi refresh, moving to 802.11ax / Wi-Fi 6 access points makes perfect sense. Contact us if you are on a path to migrate to 802.11ax, as it is backward compatible.
